This year Washington, D.C. celebrates the 100th anniversary of the gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Japan. Take part in the National Cherry Blossom, March 20-April 27. Here’s a quick list of highlights:
See the famous blooms at the most famous site: the Tidal Basin, an area surrounding the Jefferson Memorial. Blossoms are expected to peak at the end of March and the beginning of April.
Take part in the Kite Festival, March 31. Kids can fashion kites as well as applaud trick kites and root for favorites in a showdown of battling high-flyers.
Watch the National Cherry Blossom Festival Fireworks, April 7. The rockets light up the sky at the Southwest Waterfront.
Cheer the parade, April 14. Floats and marching bands roll along Constitution Avenue.
